ORGANIZATIONS FIGHTING FOR CHANGE
There are many great organizations committed to fighting racism, making cities safer, creating more opportunity for black youth, and so on. To donate to organizations fighting for change follow these links:
Black Boys Code - aim to inspire young Black men to take control of their future and become tomorrow’s digital creators and technological innovators by helping them develop digital literacy and computer competence.
Black Health Alliance - community-led registered charity working to improve the health and well-being of Black communities in Canada.
Black Legal Action Centre - a non-profit community legal clinic that provides free legal services for low or no income Black residents of Ontario.
Black Mental Health Matters - A fund that supports Black therapists across Ontario to enable low/no-cost mental health care and ensures therapists are paid fairly.
Black Women in Motion - Based in Toronto, this organization specifically supports Black womxn and survivors of sexual violence by creating culturally relevant content, educational tools, healing spaces and economic opportunities.
Black Youth Helpline - this organization serves all youth and specifically responds to the need for a Black youth specific service, resourced to promote access to culturally appropriate supports for youth, families, schools and other youth serving institutions.
CEE Toronto - Careers Education Empowerment - The CEE Centre For Young Black Professionals is a Toronto based charity that is dedicated to addressing the economic and social barriers that affect Black youth ages 14 and over who are not in employment, education, or training
NIA Centre for the Arts - aims to create spaces for Black Art by supporting professional and emerging artists to learn, grow and show their art.
As Zander is a Canadian-owned company, many of these organizations are local to our team. We would like to encourage everyone to do their own additional research to find organizations that are local to them and that are not listed above. Remember that, as well as donations, many of these organizations could benefit from community volunteers. Let’s all help make a change.
